The 2024-2025 HR Stars Awards Malaysia celebrated outstanding contributions in the field of HR, honouring individuals who have demonstrated innovation and leadership in shaping workplace excellence. Among the recognised professionals was Chee Ping Lau, HR Manager at Leung Kai Fook Medical Sdn Bhd, who was named a runner-up for Best Up and Coming HR Leader.
Chee Ping Lau has played a pivotal role in transforming HR practices at Leung Kai Fook Medical Sdn Bhd. One of his key initiatives was the implementation of bi-annual performance appraisals, a first for the company. This initiative enhanced transparency, provided employees with regular feedback, and created clear development pathways, ultimately driving employee engagement and performance.
Recognising the importance of workplace culture, he pioneered the company’s first-ever team-building event and successfully advocated for competitive bonus structures. He also played a key role in finalising the company’s job levelling and grading system, ensuring fairness, transparency, and career progression clarity. By enhancing the compensation and benefits (C&B) structure and modernising the employee handbook, he aligned company policies with industry best practices and provided employees with clearer guidelines. His efforts have standardised compensation, attracted top talent, and fostered an informed and engaged workforce.
